AEO marketing: get recommended by AI answers
AEO = Answer Engine Optimisation. SEO gets you ranked in search results. AEO gets you cited and recommended inside AI answers — Amazon's Rufus, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews — when shoppers ask "what should I buy?"
How shoppers now buy
More shoppers start with an AI question, not a search box: "best air fryer for a family of 4", "best running shoes under $100", "best coffee maker for small kitchen". The AI answers with a shortlist — with sources. If your product, store, or guide is not in those sources, you are invisible in that journey, even if you rank on Google.
Rufus: the one Amazon sellers cannot ignore
Amazon has its own shopping assistant, Rufus — in the US it is now part of Alexa for Shopping. When a shopper asks Rufus for a recommendation, it answers from Amazon listings and content it trusts. For Amazon sellers, Rufus is the highest-value AI channel: the shopper is already on Amazon, one tap from buying. For Walmart and Etsy sellers, ChatGPT is the main AI channel, since Rufus only covers Amazon.
What AEO actually does
- Answer-first content: pages that directly answer real buyer questions, with clear facts, comparisons, and prices — not fluff.
- Citable structure: short answers up top, evidence below, clean headings, FAQs, tables, and sources AI can quote.
- Entity + trust: consistent brand, product, and store facts across your site, listings, and reviews — so AI engines trust the answer.
- Reviews + proof: real ratings, real specs, real photos. AI engines favour pages that show evidence, not claims.
SEO vs AEO
SEO: rank in a list of 10 links. AEO: be the answer inside 1 response. You need both — SEO brings clicks, AEO brings recommendations. AEO does not replace Amazon PPC or listings; it adds a new discovery channel on top.
What AEO cannot do — honestly
- No one can guarantee an AI citation. Engines change models, sources, and rules often.
- AEO does not work without real content, real products, and real reviews.
- Results are slower than PPC — think months of consistent content, not days.
- If a seller promises "No.1 on ChatGPT in 7 days", walk away.
How BIZSHOP does AEO for sellers
- Audit: what do Rufus and ChatGPT already say about your category? Are you cited, competitors cited, or nobody cited? This AI visibility check runs 10–20 real buyer questions.
- Answer pages: buyer-question guides (like this one) for your top products — comparisons, "best for" pages, FAQs.
- Listing + site alignment: same facts, prices, and specs on Amazon listings and your site, so AI does not see contradictions.
- Track: which questions cite you, which cite competitors, and what to improve next. Amazon does not report Rufus traffic separately, so we re-run the same buyer questions monthly and track movement alongside conversion and sessions.
Example: a shopper asks Rufus for "best non-stick pan for induction". A good AEO page answers in one paragraph, compares 3 pans with prices and pros/cons, links to the Amazon listing, and shows reviews. That is the page Rufus and ChatGPT can cite.
BIZSHOP is not affiliated with OpenAI, Perplexity, Google, Amazon, Walmart, or Etsy. AI engines change frequently — AEO results vary and are never guaranteed.
